Cognitive Coaching Cycles
WHY we do it
Growth is discoverable when we can see where we are and where we want to be. Then, we can be invited to collaborate with expert support to reach our goals.
Using cognitive coaching techniques, a coach and teacher’s relationship is collegial, removed from the evaluative process, and maintained as a partnership.
HOW we do it
A pre-coaching phase establishes roles and relationships.
The coach and teacher embark on a cycle that includes planning, in-class support, and debriefing.
The cycle is designed to be teacher-driven, supportive, and iterative.
Pre-Planning includes determining and integrating district, school, and team-level strategies and goals.
A three-phase Coaching process is then implemented wherein:
Teacher and Coach collaborate on individual goals and objective measurements. The Teacher and Coach then agree on how the Coach can best support during an in-class session.
Coach supports Teacher during a class session as determined by Teacher.
Coach and Teacher debrief on the in-class experience, measure the meeting of the goal, and consider adapting goals going forward.

Administrative Integration
Data shows that the most significant student growth measures are recorded when on-site teams are all in sync.
In this process, Administrative staff are trained and supported with custom rubrics to support them and their teachers during the on-site walkthrough and evaluation process.
